Intellectual property
Who owns the game, the texts and the illustrations, what you may do without asking, and what needs our permission.
1. What this page is about
This page sets out who holds the rights to the game and to this website, what you may and may not do with that material, and how to ask permission if you want to do more than what is set out here.
The rights holder is:
KISSIT B.V.
Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number: 73795836
E-mail: info@sdshunter.com
2. What is ours
All intellectual property rights in the following belong to KISSIT B.V., or to creators who have licensed them to us:
- the game concept of SDS Hunter / VIB Jager: its structure, its scoring, its card types and the way they interact;
- the rules of play, in the wording in which we have written them, and all accompanying text and explanatory material;
- the cards and the box: the graphic design, the layout, the card back, the illustrations and the situation descriptions;
- the texts on this website, in Dutch and in English;
- the names and logos SDS Hunter, VIB Jager, VIB Hunter and UFI Hunter, and the associated figurative marks;
- the design, source code and structure of this website, including the WordPress theme we built for it.
A game idea as such is not protected by copyright; its concrete expression — rules, texts, designs, illustrations, layout — is. In addition, trade mark rights, design rights and database rights may apply to individual elements.
3. What is not ours
Part of what you see on this site is public or official information. We claim no rights in it:
- The nine GHS hazard pictograms. These come from the United Nations Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and are laid down in the EU in Annex V to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP). They are meant to be used freely and unaltered for the purpose for which they exist.
- The hazard statements (H-statements), precautionary statements (P-statements) and signal words. These are official, legally prescribed texts from the CLP Regulation. We reproduce them verbatim, precisely because nothing about them may be changed.
- Other legislation and official publications we refer to.
- Third-party trade marks and trade names, including the name and logo of any edition partner, and the names of products or platforms we mention. These remain the property of their rights holders and are used for identification only.
- Third-party software and typefaces used under their own licences, including WordPress (GPL) and the Lora typeface (SIL Open Font License).
Our own selection, arrangement, explanation and presentation of this official material is our work.
4. What you may do without asking
- Play, lend, give away or resell the game — the copy you bought is yours.
- View this site, share pages and link to it.
- Print or save a page for your own use or for use in the classroom.
- Quote briefly from our texts with attribution and a link to sdshunter.com, as the right of quotation permits.
- As press, blogger or reviewer: discuss the game and show photographs of the product, or use imagery we make available as press material. Request press material at info@sdshunter.com.
5. What you may not do without our written permission
- Reproduce, reprint or distribute the game or parts of it as print-and-play, in any language or edition.
- Publish the full rules of play, card texts or card images, in print or online.
- Reproduce, adapt or reuse our texts, designs or illustrations beyond the right of quotation.
- Create derivative works: expansions, variants, translations, digital versions or apps based on our game.
- Use our name, logo or imagery in a way that suggests we endorse or are associated with a product, service or organisation.
- Commercially exploit the game or our materials, for example in paid training, as a corporate gift or as part of a third party's offering. For business use and personalised print runs we have our own route — get in touch.
6. Text and data mining, and training AI models
We hereby expressly reserve our rights within the meaning of Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790 and its implementation in Dutch law.
This means: content from this website or from the game materials may not be collected, stored or used by automated means for text and data mining, or to train or fine-tune language, image or other models, without our prior written permission. This reservation applies to the entire website, regardless of what a robots.txt file or any other technical signal indicates.
The official CLP texts and the GHS pictograms are not covered by this reservation; those are public. Our reservation covers our own texts and designs and the selection and arrangement of the material.
7. Education
We look favourably on educational use. If you want to use the game or its materials in a lesson, a teaching method, an open educational resource or a school project that goes beyond section 4 above, e-mail info@sdshunter.com and briefly describe what you have in mind. In many cases we can work something out, often free of charge.
8. Asking permission
Send your request to info@sdshunter.com and include:
- who you are and on whose behalf you are writing;
- which material you want to use;
- what for, in what print run or to what audience, and for how long;
- whether the use is commercial.
Permission only applies if we grant it in writing or by e-mail, applies only to the use described, and is not transferable.
9. Players' ideas and feedback
If you send us an idea, a situation card or a suggested improvement, section 5 of the Terms and conditions applies: we may use it freely to improve the game, without payment and without any obligation to credit you. If you want to share something on different terms, contact us before sending it.
10. Reporting infringement
If you see someone using our material without permission, please let us know at info@sdshunter.com.
If you believe that we are infringing your rights with this site or with the game, please report it to the same address. Describe which work is involved, where on our site or in our material it appears, and why you believe you are the rights holder. We respond within 14 days and remove or amend whatever turns out to be justified.
11. Reservation of rights
All rights not expressly granted above are reserved to KISSIT B.V. Use of this site grants you no licence whatsoever in our intellectual property rights, except where expressly stated above.
