This disclaimer applies to the entire website and to all material we make available through it. By using the site you accept this disclaimer. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the site.

2. What the game and this site are for

SDS Hunter (in Dutch: VIB Jager) is an educational family card game. The game and this website have one purpose: helping people recognise the nine GHS hazard pictograms that appear on the labels of chemical products.

What we offer is general educational information. It is explicitly not:

  • safety advice for any specific product or situation;
  • a substitute for a product's label, safety data sheet (SDS) or instructions for use;
  • a substitute for a workplace risk assessment, a work instruction or an exposure assessment;
  • medical, toxicological, legal or occupational-hygiene advice;
  • training or certification from which any legal rights or obligations can be derived.

Doing well at the game says nothing about whether someone is qualified or competent to work with hazardous substances.

3. In an emergency

If there is an accident involving a chemical product — swallowing, inhalation, contact with eyes or skin — do not consult this website. In the Netherlands, call 112 in case of immediate danger, or contact your doctor or out-of-hours medical service. Keep the label or packaging to hand: it contains the information a doctor needs. Outside the Netherlands, use the local emergency number.

4. Official sources prevail

The hazard pictograms, hazard statements (H-statements), signal words and precautionary statements (P-statements) this site deals with are laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (the CLP Regulation) and its subsequent amendments.

In case of doubt or conflict, the following order always applies:

  1. the official text of the CLP Regulation and its adaptations to technical progress (ATPs), as published by the EU;
  2. the label and safety data sheet of the product itself, as supplied by the supplier;
  3. information from competent authorities (ECHA and the relevant national authorities);
  4. only then: this website and the game.

We are not the source of this legislation and have no control over it.

5. Accuracy and currency

We compile the content of this site with care and check the official texts we reproduce against their source. Even so, we cannot guarantee that everything is complete, correct and up to date at all times. The CLP Regulation is amended regularly; a hazard statement or classification that is correct today may have changed next year. If you spot an error, please tell us at info@sdshunter.com — we read every report and assess what to do with it.

No rights can be derived from the content of this site.

6. Availability of the site

We do our best to keep the site available and secure, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may change, temporarily suspend or discontinue the site or parts of it at any time, without incurring liability.

7. Links to other websites

This site links to third-party websites in some places, for example to ECHA or other official sources. We have no influence over the content, availability or privacy practices of those sites and are not responsible for them. A link does not mean we endorse that website or its operator.

8. The game materials

The game is intended for ages 14 and up and is not a toy. The cards and the box are printed matter; paper and cardboard packaging are not suitable for young children. Supervise children.

Colours on your screen may differ from the printed product. Images on this site are for illustration; there may be small differences between the images shown and the print run actually delivered.

9. Liability

We are not liable for damage arising from the use of this website, from its unavailability, or from decisions you take based on the information on this site or in the game. This also applies to damage resulting from incomplete, incorrect or outdated information.

This limitation does not apply in the event of intent or deliberate recklessness on our part, in the event of death or personal injury, or in so far as mandatory law — including consumer law and product liability rules — provides otherwise. If you are acting as a consumer, your statutory rights remain fully intact.

We may amend this disclaimer. The version shown on this page at the time of your visit is the version that applies. The version number and the date of the last change are always shown at the top.

11. Governing law

This disclaimer and the use of this website are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent Dutch court, unless mandatory law designates another court — as a consumer you always retain the right to bring proceedings before the court of your own place of residence.
